Ohm load on stereo?
quick question, i have a panasonic sa-ak520 hifi with a dedicated subwoofer. The sub channel is rated at 8 ohms. I also have a alpine type r subwoofer dual 4 ohm voice coils which has been wired in parallel to show 2 ohms. If i connect the 8 ohm and the 2 ohm subs together i should be getting 10 ohms right? only reason i ask is because the alpine sub is a dvc sub and the standard panasonic one is a svc sub, will it make any difference?
Yes you will get 10 ohms if both subs are in series, however, since it isn't a symetrical wiring method, the type r will get far more power than the 8 ohm sub. Plus you will lose overall power going from 8 ohm to 10 ohm.
I would advise against doing that.
