Car subwoofer with surround sound speakers?
Ok, so i have the Logitech X540's and the subwoofer is quite good for the money.. but i was wondering if i could replace the 5" subwoofer with a 10" Kenwood KFC-W110S and run it off of the stock amp, the impedance is 4ohms on the subwoofer and the x540's so it should work.. shouldnt it ? or is the stock amp not powerfull enough for it ?(i also realise i need a new enclosure).please explain in detail ![]()
Ok, so how would i got about fitting and amp that would support that ? and still be able to use the sattelite speakers ?
The X540 amplifier probably doesn't put out that much power (25W). It would take a lot more power to drive a 10" woofer than a 5" one, so if you used the X540's amplifier the Kenwood woofer wouldn't pump out too much volume.
If you're building an enclosure you might as well do it right and either buy a plate amplifier that will power the Kenwood woofer sufficiently or get an external amplifier (make it a passive sub). You could even use an old 100W stereo receiver to power it if budget is concern.
