sub woofer box build question?
i have two 12's and just bought another one same ohm and rms rating and yes there the same kinda sub....ihave the 2 in a 35w x13t x14d ported box (port is in the middle,square messuring 4wide and 12 tall)was wonderin if someone could tell me if i could get the same or even better bass responsen with 3 in a seald box i am limited for space because i would like a little trunk space left.car is a 97 monte any suggestion on a box that will fit 3 12 subs in a 35 inch opening....i can build a box that will fit but i thought i would get some tips or advise before starting the box build any and all advise is will help
this is only speculation, some subs are not even designed for sealed enclosures. but based on typical situations. this is my opinion. with three subs in a sealed enclosure will likely be tighter and you'll likely have a much higher power capability, but watt to watt, there is a good chance that the ported box with 2 will actually be louder.
adding one extra driver gives you 50% more cone surface or 1.5 DB gain when compared to a similar system with only two. now if you added extra power as well. i think the 3 subs would be at least as loud, and possible sound better as well.
